SHARON McCARTHY, Paralegal
Our paralegal, Sharon McCarthy, has more than 17 years of litigation and trial experience focusing on domestic relations, probate and estate planning, personal injury, commercial and business litigation, and criminal law. Further, she has over 8 years experience as an Electrical Engineer in system design and testing. Before returning to her native Michigan in the fall of 1995, Sharon completed 1½ years of law school in southern California. Prior to that, she obtained her Associates of Applied Sciences in Paralegal Studies from Phillips College, Inland Empire Campus (Riverside, CA) in October, 1993. Sharon also holds a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from the University of Detroit, where she was active in the Engineering Student Council, her sorority, and Campus Ministry.
Sharon has been an active associate member of the Wayne County Family Law Bar Association since 2004, and is a former associate member of the Macomb County Probate Bar Association. In her professional capacity, she co-authored and co-presented a seminar on Elder Law for the Paralegal. Additionally, Sharon presented training sessions to her employers and co-workers on the Estates and Protected Individuals Code (“E.P.I.C.”), and the revised probate code.
Sharon is a Distinguished Toastmaster, and a past Lt. Governor Education and Training for Toastmasters International, District 12 (Inland Empire District).
In her personal life, Sharon is married and the mother of an elementary school-aged daughter. Currently, Sharon is the Secretary of her daughter’s school’s parent organization, as well as the Secretary of her Homeowners’ Association.
